Computer Skills Training (Basic & Intermediate):
The Computer Skills class has 3 components:
- Living Online (internet & email)
- Key Applications (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Computing Fundamentals (hardware & software basics)
At the end of 6 months, each student can earn an Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC3) certification
The class prepares students to work as Administrative Assistants.
The instructor will teach a lesson each day, and then students move at their own pace through the materials
Course graduates may go on to Goodwill’s advanced IT Technician training program (see below).
Class Times: M-F, 8-10am, for 6 months
Optionally, students may also work 30 hours per week (paid) in Goodwill’s computer reuse business or retail stores, if we have positions open.
Admissions are rolling – a new module starts every 2 weeks (first module starts Dec. 1st).
Requirements:
- 8th grade level in math, reading, and language (in English)
- Ability to make 6-month commitment to attend class M-F, 8-10am
- Desire to be placed in a job at the end of the class

IT Technician Training (Advanced):
The IT Technician class prepares the student for an IT Help Desk job:
- Repairing PCs
- Installing software
- Trouble-shooting
We offer optional concurrent paid internships for high-achieving students, in computer refurbishing, computer service, or IT support – 10 hours per week.
At the end of the 6-month class, each student can earn the A+ credential, which is recognized worldwide as the only vendor-neutral standard for computer service technicians.
Graduates will receive help with job placement in IT Helpdesk jobs – starting wage is $15 to $20 per hour.
Class time: M-F, 6-9pm, for 6 months
Students will enroll in a cohort – all 20 students will start December 1st and graduate May 30th.
Requirements:
- 8th grade reading level (in English)
- Ability to make 6-month commitment to attend class M-F, 6-9pm
- Desire to be placed in a job at the end of the class
- Some foundational knowledge of computer technologies
- The aptitude to learn a large volume of information in a relatively short period of time.
- Interest in a career in IT technical support
